Say Hello to Pogo
Bedlington Terrier, 10 years old
She came from Bedlington Terrier Rescue .
My favourite thing about Pogo is...
she had five homes before she came to us and although she was not neglected, she was not loved. It took her many months before she became a loving dog. Now she loves to play and has two boxes full of toys which she loves to fling about.
The biggest challenge with Pogo is...
the first day we got her she had to go to the vets. The second day she went back to the vets because she developed trouble with her ears. The third day she went to be clipped as she had not been clipped in a long time. Bedlingtons were bred to go down the mines and kill rats. She still has that killer instinct, but she's lovely with it.
The most surprising thing about owning a Bedlington Terrier is...
how much she can eat (if we let her) and she is very stubborn, when going for a walk she knows exactly which direction she wants to go in.
What I wish I’d known about Bedlington Terriers is...
Bedlington's can be subject to Copper Toxicosis, so their diet needs to be watched. Also as with a lot of small dogs her anal glands need to be checked that they are not blocked.
Did you know?
Bedlingtons are often referred to as ‘the smartest and quickest’ of the terrier breeds.
