Say Hi to Lily
Border Collie, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Lily is...
Lily is the most adorable collie cross, she is unbelievably cuddly. Lily insists on at least ten minutes of tummy stroking before she gets up in the morning and just wants company all day. She loves people, walks, playing ball and her indoor chew toys are a must! Lily is a star house dog never chewing anything but her toys. She is a sparky, intelligent and wilful at times, a joy to live with.
The biggest challenge with Lily is...
Lily suffered with a birth defect (not normal for border collies) liver shunt. From four months old she was seriously ill and had a massive operation at ten months old to try to correct the problem. Luckily the operation was a success and our very angry puppy (due to the illness) has matured into a super loving companion. Purina HA helped her condition and is her diet for life, which she loves.
The most surprising thing about owning a Border Collie is...
Always ready for any action! So loving, loyal and ready to play. They love to learn and try to please.
What I wish I’d known about Border Collies is...
How different each one is! But they all love herding and a bit of staring. Early training is key and use hand signals as well as voice controls.
Did you know
There are many theories on how Collies got their names but as ‘collie’ is Gaelic for ‘useful’ perhaps it’s as simple as Scottish farmers recognising one of the key traits of their dogs.
