Let us introduce Short
Border Collie, 7 years old
My favourite thing about Short is...
He loves people and will always join you on the sofa for a cuddle. He is a big softie who will find his way to you to lean on you or try and fit on your lap. He's also very tolerant of his cat brother, and any excitable dogs or visiting children that want to play!
The biggest challenge with Short is...
He's obsessed with balls and sticks! He can sense other dogs playing fetch from fields away and always wants to get involved - he's a confirmed tennis ball thief.
The most surprising thing about owning a Border Collie is...
As a retired working sheep dog, he is actually a lot more relaxed than I expected. He's getting older now, so is enjoying his retirement, snoozing on the sofa and travelling all over the country with us. He doesn't need as much exercise as I anticipated, and will let us know when he's ready to go home from a long walk.
What I wish I’d known about Border Collies is...
How much they shed! Short doesn't have a long coat but still sheds a lot all year around due to his double coat, so requires a fair amount of grooming.
Did you know?
This breed is highly sensitive and doesn’t respond well to harsh treatment or loud noises.
