He is very affectionate with us and he loves our female Canaans and loves playing with them.

He gets startled by new items in his surroundings. For example, we got some bales of straw and temporarily stacked them on the front lawn and he barked at them and ran away from them.

How loving they are with their own while still retaining a lot of independence.

They need a lot of socialisation and can be same-sex dog aggressive. While controllable on lead it's best - for the majority of them - not to let them off-lead around other dogs..
