Say Hi to Dexter

Irish Setter, 5 years old

🏠 Suburbs dog
🍷 Lives with adults only

My favourite thing about Dexter is...

He is so affectionate and loving - he loves nothing more than a cuddle and makes friends wherever we go. If he's ever left alone for a short period of time, his excited greetings when we get home instantly turn any kind of day into the best day ever, because Dexter is there waiting for us.

The biggest challenge with Dexter is...

Recall and obedience are words not always associated with Irish Setters. Most of the time Dexter will respond to the whistle or put himself to bed when told, but every so often he will choose to ignore us and do his own thing, including following other dogs whose scent has piqued his interest.

The most surprising thing about owning a Irish Setter is...

They are remarkably intelligent despite choosing not to show it most of the time. They can open doors very easily and invite themselves in anytime they choose.

What I wish I’d known about Irish Setters is...

The drool! The relentless slobber that covers furniture, appliances, and car interiors. If you own an Irish Setter, it's guaranteed that within minutes of changing into a nice clean outfit it will be adorned with a blaze of drool.
