Say Hello to Digby
Lakeland Terrier & Fox Terrier Wire Coat, 10 years old
My favourite thing about Digby is...
Digby was purchased because my lovely rescue staffy became so terrified of fireworks that she was too fearful to go out long after 5th November. We brought him home at nine weeks of age and he fitted in nicely with us all. Penny, my staffy was encouraged to go out with Digby and they were great pals until sadly, we lost Penny. So, in a way, he became a rescue dog to Penny.
The biggest challenge with Digby is...
He is very vocal and all the neighbours are aware when he is on his way out for his walk. He dislikes motorbikes and we have to be careful when close to traffic.
The most surprising thing about owning a Lakeland Terrier & Fox Terrier Wire Coat is...
People are very unsure of his breed and ask me about him. He looks a totally different dog after his coat is cut and when it gets longer he is a ginger curly fur ball.
What I wish I’d known about Lakeland Terriers & Fox Terrier Wire Coats is...
Be calm and never make loud or sudden and surprising movements. He doesn't seem to have forgotten things that made him fearful as a puppy. He still doesn't like me changing the bag in the peddle bin (I think this was because I shook an empty bag at him when he was young).
