Say Hi to Theo

Poodle (Miniature), 2 years old

🏠 Suburbs dog
🍷 Lives with adults only

My favourite thing about Theo is...

His big personality! He has lots of quirks but is the most loving, spoiled pup around. He loves long walks, playing with everyone (dogs and humans!) and is always so friendly and excited. He’s pretty smart so toilet training was a breeze, and he picks up new tricks easy. Anything for a bit of ham!

The biggest challenge with Theo is...

His separation anxiety and being reactive. Although never ever aggressive, he is a reactive pup and requires constant boundaries training! Because he’s so cute and small, everyone wants to say hello which makes it challenging. He gets anxious alone but that’s a known breed trait so be prepared for your mini poodle to be at your hip constantly! also requires regular grooming so that might be a con

The most surprising thing about owning a Poodle (Miniature) is...

How smart they are! I’ve never had a dog that picks things up so quickly, and he’s an absolute joy. However, this also works against you because they know how to get what they want with ease.

What I wish I’d known about Poodles (Miniature) is...

They get bored easily and despite being small, they have insane amounts of energy so daily walks and lots of enrichment are needed.

Did you know?

Poodles - especially the ones you see in the show ring - seem to have all kinds of crazy hairdos but these often flamboyant-looking styles all started off with a purpose. Poodles were originally water-retrieving dogs but their coats could easily get water-logged and pull them down. The answer was to clip off all their hair but leave some around their vital organs to keep them warm, and around any vulnerable joints to protect from injury.
