Say Hi to Ruairi

Shorkie, 7 years old

🏠 Suburbs dog
🍼 Lives with children

My favourite thing about Ruairi is...

Ruairi can get a smile from everybody. Complete strangers cross the street just to make a fuss of him. He is equally at home with toddlers handling him as he is with the elderly or disabled. He would make a great hospital visiting dog. He is a little mischief but , as Rod Stewart used to say, he wears it well. Basically he believes that everybody was placed on this planet just to play with him.

The biggest challenge with Ruairi is...

The downside to all that is the fact that he has never had a bad experience so he will go to anybody expecting to be made a fuss of. It's a challenge to prevent him being intrusive without spoiling his overall openness and friendliness.

The most surprising thing about owning a Shorkie is...

Perhaps they are not as well known as some other crossbreeds but each dog is different. I believe it is more how a dog is treated that defines his character rather than his parentage.

What I wish I’d known about Shorkies is...

Don't prejudge a Shorkie or any other breed for that matter. They are as individual as you are.
