At Bakers®, we are committed to providing quality pet food that supports a happy and healthy life for your pets. At the same time we are committed to caring for the soil of the farms we source from and the cereal farmers that work them.

Regenerative Agriculture is about farming more closely in harmony with nature to help protect and restore soil health. Farmers use practices like planting trees and hedges and growing cover crops to help prevent soil erosion and boost soil quality and fertility.

What does this look like?
Cover crops act like a natural shield, protecting soil and supporting life in the soil all year round. When they break down, they become organic matter — helping the soil hold more water like a sponge.

Planting trees alongside crops. Tree roots can help keep soil in place and prevent erosion, while trees create habitats for wildlife and support biodiversity as they grow, having the potential to bring rare and protected species back to farms.

Why does it matter? These practices can bring multiple benefits:

  • More fertile soil for future harvests
  • Replenish nutrients in the soils
  • Less need for chemical fertilizers
  • Better water retention in the soil
  • More biodiversity to support thriving ecosystems
