Meet Teddy
Bichon Frise, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Teddy is...
His fun loving, cheeky personality. He absolutely loves meeting other dogs, big or small, and he gives off such a signal to them that even the most unfriendly pooch is won over in no time! Some owners have said “sorry my dog is not friendly” but Teddy reads their signal and weaves his magic and they are playing together in minutes! He is also such a snuggly cuddle monster which is adorable.
The biggest challenge with Teddy is...
He is an escape artist especially trying to get into our neighbours garden to say “hello “ to their cat! He also loves to chew anything he shouldn’t be, slippers, socks being favourite.
The most surprising thing about owning a Bichon Frise is...
They sometimes love to suddenly hurtle around the house, known as the “Bichon Blitz”.
What I wish I’d known about Bichon Frises is...
The are one of the most loving and affectionate breeds, sometimes called “cling ons” because they love to be with you constantly.
Did you know?
The origin of the name Bichon Frise is up for debate. Some argue it comes from the Old French term for female dog ‘biche’ while others say that it’s a shortening of ‘barbichon’, which means small poodle, and derives from ‘barbiche’, meaning shaggy dog. Later on, the French coined the term ‘bichon à poil frisé’ which was shortened and simplified by the English to become Bichon Frise.
