Hello from Marley (and Kody!)

Border Collie, 5 years old

🏠 Suburbs dog
🍷 Lives with adults only
Marley (and Kody!) was adopted!

She came from Many Tears .

My favourite thing about Marley (and Kody!) is...

Marley is a very sweet natured girl & very well behaved (unless left alone even for ten minutes when she rebels and chews up our possessions!) She’s obsessed with her walks and is highly stimulated by chasing small creatures through the woods (even though she never catches anything). She’s very gentle natured and eager to please, I couldn’t fault her. Kody is a highly intelligent, emotional being. He had a very hard start to life and is definitely needier than Marley. He’s also very gentle natured & loves cuddles in the morning in bed (he wakes me up every morning by lying across me wagging his tail). I love their bond and it makes us so happy to see them playing together and enjoying their lives. I couldn’t imagine life without them.

The biggest challenge with Marley (and Kody!) is...

The biggest challenge with the both is their barking at home. Kody is very territorial and barks when he hears someone at the door or outside as I think he thinks people are coming to get him. They love tag teaming on this barking event haha. I’m a little apprehensive of this will be if and when we have a baby. The biggest challenge with Marley is she loves to rip up letters or cardboard if she can get her paws on it, when they are left alone without us. The most challenging part is ensuring I can spend as much time with them as possible, even at the expense of our own social life, they deserve to have us around as much as possible and although we love travelling we definitely don’t go away as much because we hate leaving them (even though they do love our house sitter).

The most surprising thing about owning a Border Collie is...

They are both incredibly intelligent, it’s impossible to get anything past them, almost like they have a 6 sense. Kody doesn’t like wearing his harness to go on walks and somehow always seems sense when it is time, so will hide under the dining table to try and avoid this. Kody being a spitz also makes him very territorial and loud at home, he’s a bossy little man.

What I wish I’d known about Border Collies is...

Collies need lots of exercise and mental stimulation so I recommend good walks, agility classes and some games for the house, they also love playing fetch with balls. Kody is quite needy, he’s loves attention and always wants it, whether it’s stroking, playing with a ball etc, due to him being very intelligent he needs some sort of mental stimulation a lot of the time.
