Get introduced to Lottie

Cocker Spaniel (English), 1 Year old

🏠 Suburbs dog
🍼 Lives with children

My favourite thing about Lottie is...

How loving she is! She clearly loves every member of our family just as much as we love her! She is unbelievably good with young children as she will play gently with them compared to her rough play with the older children/adults. She can also sense when the children are unwell and will cuddle up to them. She is very sensitive to our emotions.

The biggest challenge with Lottie is...

Stopping her from eating things that she shouldn't such as any discarded food on the floor. She also knows which small children to target to steal food from their hands, gently but quick as a flash!

The most surprising thing about owning a Cocker Spaniel (English) is...

Just how loyal they are. Lottie was able to be off lead on walks from a very early age as her recall is brilliant, she just wants to be with us and will never stray far on a walk. She also loves to chase a ball on her walks but I haven't yet got her to bring it back and drop it at my feet, so work still to be done there.

What I wish I’d known about Cocker Spaniels (English) is...

The best advice we got before we got Lottie as a pup was to use a crate for her to sleep in and also a heat pad under her bed and we found that these worked perfectly as she has always slept perfectly at night clearly feeling safe and warm. This breed can be mischievous of course but because they are sensitive dogs they generally understand when you really mean 'No!'

Did you know?

Cocker Spaniels paw pads inspired the sole for the first ever boat shoes when Paul Sperry witnessed his dog running on ice without a problem.
