Say Hi to Brody
Dobermann, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Brody is...
The affection and attention we get back from him is absolute and unwavering. When he’s in the mood, the love he shows is palpable and he loves cuddling up on the settee (it’s a big settee!) with us both and being pampered.
The biggest challenge with Brody is...
The one and only ‘challenge’ is his sheer strength. When he’s excited to go for a walk, he pulls like a locomotive! I swear my arms are longer than they were before we brought him home.
The most surprising thing about owning a Dobermann is...
How clever they are, how easy they are to train and how ingenious they are. Brody began his training at just 4 months of age and learnt more in 3 months than some dogs learn in a lifetime. I didn’t expect his tail to wag from the minute we start training, right through to the end… wind, rain, snow… never affects his willingness to learn.
What I wish I’d known about Dobermanns is...
We both wish we’d known how much this breed can pull on the lead and whilst knowing they are strong, it’s impossible to explain just how strong. 45kg of pure muscle and mischief!
Did you know?
During the first World War the breed almost died out as people in Europe couldn’t afford to keep such large dogs but the Dobermann found work in the military and police which ensured their future.
