Get to know Odin

German Shepherd Dog, 3 years old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍼 Lives with children

My favourite thing about Odin is...

He is a liver and gold gsd , long coat with the most fantastic temperament .When our great grandchildren visit us he is their guardian and looks after them..Big as he is he is a gentle giant but a guard dog when needed. He is very much a family dog not a one person dog as some folks say. Gets on with all our family’s dogs which include a great dane , a dalmnation and assorted gsd’s ..

The biggest challenge with Odin is...

None as he has been trained from a puppy to behave and although part of our family he is a dog not a substitute child . We have his daughter and another gsd plus he is a big dog weighing in at 43 kgs so we have to have well behaved dogs due to their size.

The most surprising thing about owning a German Shepherd Dog is...

That they can be real family dogs and brought up correctly they are excellent with babies and children. They are intelligent and generally are easy to train but they have to be set boundaries . From a pup they need to be trained to not react when food is given or taken away.etc. Give them respect and they will return it two fold. I would have no ther breed of dog for me they are perfect.

What I wish I’d known about German Shepherd Dogs is...

That they really are family dogs and are no different than any other breed apart from being more intelligent than most breeds.
