Hola from Cleo

Japanese Akita, 9 years old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍷 Lives with adults only
Cleo was adopted!

She came from Dogs Trust .

My favourite thing about Cleo is...

She is a giant ball of fluff with the kindest eyes.

The biggest challenge with Cleo is...

She has had 4 operations on her back legs so she has titanium legs. She has not been able to use stairs since so we moved to a bungalow.

The most surprising thing about owning a Japanese Akita is...

How incredibly loyal and stubborn they are. They also have webbed feet so they can swim well. Not my Cleo. She's afraid of waves.

What I wish I’d known about Japanese Akitas is...

They are so loving and protective.

Did you know?

The most famous Japanese Akita was Hachi, the loyal companion of a Tokyo professor Eizaburo Ueno. Each day Hachi would accompany his master to the train station and would also be waiting for him when he got back from work. On 25th May 1925, Professor Ueno died in his office but for the next nine years and until his own death, Hachi made the lonely journey back and forward to the station waiting for his master who never came. There is a statue at the station in his memory.
