Say Hi to Claret
Labrador Retriever, 6 years old
My favourite thing about Claret is...
How very gentle and perceptive she is with humans and other animals. She was bred by and destined to be a Guide Dog but wasn't able to due to her own sight problems. She is a fantastic mentor to guide dogs puppies and has helped bring up 6 little life changers. She is also ia therapy dog with a local charity supporting people with mental health issues. Above all she's an adorable family pet.
The biggest challenge with Claret is...
Remembering she can't see very well, because she just takes challenges in her stride and loves life.
The most surprising thing about owning a Labrador Retriever is...
Their unending loyalty and love and just how much they will eat if given the opportunity!
What I wish I’d known about Labrador Retrievers is...
They need a lot of exercise to run of their energy, keep their weight down and stay healthy. Labs are very sociable dogs who love to be with their family. A lab is not the dog for you if they will be left home alone. Thankfully my work, volunteering and hobbies all enable Claret to come along with me.
