Greetings from Dizzy
Labrador Retriever, 6 years old
My favourite thing about Dizzy is...
She is just so loving! Having her greet me at the bottom of the stairs every morning is always a brilliant start of the day and instantly cheers me up. I love how she thinks everything is exciting and brilliant, from a little treat to a big swim in the park pond, she always finds joy in everything.
The biggest challenge with Dizzy is...
She has calmed down a bit at six years of age but Dizzy can still be a bit of a handful as she’s super playful and energetic. Muddy paw prints are part of life now and we’ve had a few glasses enthusiastically wagged off the coffee table… And If we haven’t given her enough attention she will definitely make sure she asks for it, showing us her toys and demanding fuss.
The most surprising thing about owning a Labrador Retriever is...
Their innate gentleness: Dizzy seems to always instinctively understand to be gentle with little kids (and puppies) and elderly people. It’s not something we taught her, just her nature!
What I wish I’d known about Labrador Retrievers is...
Be prepared for a lot of playfulness and energy! And I would have taken more time to train her on the lead as she can really pull - that’s something I really underestimated.
Did you know?
Originally, Labrador Retrievers worked with fishermen and were bred to bring back fish-laden nets.
