Meet Ringo

Old English Sheepdog, 4 years old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍼 Lives with children

My favourite thing about Ringo is...

he's extremely good with people, and perfect with young children (grand-children). Always friendly, up for a lark, playful and supremely loyal. He loves a visit to the local pub where he is known by all in the village, and the local bar manage always has a treat for him.

The biggest challenge with Ringo is...

keeping his paws clean after a muddy walk - soon solved by a wash in a bowl of water. We now have his coat trimmed three times a year (not too short), as 6 hour grooming sessions on the dog table were getting a bit onerous.

The most surprising thing about owning a Old English Sheepdog is...

What "gentle giants" they are - whilst they can be a bit clumsy, they are really lovable family pets.

What I wish I’d known about Old English Sheepdogs is...

Having had the breed for 45 years, we know their traits very well. New owners need to understand they may be higher maintenance than short haired breeds.

Did you know?

Thanks to a long running advertising campaign, the Old English Sheepdog will probably forever be known as the Dulux Dog, (although having one around while you’re trying to paint your house is probably a recipe for disaster!)
