Get to know Jax

Saluki, 6 Months old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍷 Lives with adults only

My favourite thing about Jax is...

he's such a cute boy with his fluffy ears and one big large black spot on his side, certainly a very independent little pup who when at home likes to be the star of the show, but when out and about hides between my legs. Talking of which they are so long and gangly they end up in the funniest positions when sleeping and when he's doing what he loves best - running - he has Bambi moments.

The biggest challenge with Jax is...

The biggest challenge is death ears, such a good little learner but when he don’t want to listen it’s my way or no way. Also he is an annoying little brother to his 11 year old big brother who has less patience with him.

The most surprising thing about owning a Saluki is...

I knew they were fast runners but wow can he run, and that’s what they live for, so fast and quick and can twist and turn so easily. Such stunning looking dogs.

What I wish I’d known about Salukis is...

My advice is to be prepared for stubbornness, and to put in lots of hours of training, certainly a recall is needed! They can also (if introduced young) live with cats. Whilst young introduce them to everyone and everything as they can be a little shy and aloof but most certainly they are absolutely friendly, great with kids and so gentle.

Did you know?

Prized by their royal owners in ancient Egypt, their death would be marked by a period of deep mourning and they would often be mummified wearing their ornate hunting collars. The famous boy king Tutankhamun is shown in his tomb with his favourite hounds - which all appear to be Salukis.
