Meet Benji
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 9 years old
He came from Happy Staffie Rescue .
My favourite thing about Benji is...
His ability to always make us smile or laugh, even when we're sad. He loves his fuss and his favourite game is playing tug. He's such a happy chap. We love him to bits.
The biggest challenge with Benji is...
He doesn't like other dogs. Tried trainers but no success.
The most surprising thing about owning a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is...
Their skulls appear to be made of concrete! Benji doesn't even flinch when he turns his head quickly and bangs into our heads. We feel it but he doesn't! They are very loving and have empathy.
What I wish I’d known about Staffordshire Bull Terriers is...
Some of them growl when playing games, especially tug, but it isn't being aggressive, it's just their way of enjoying play time.
Did you know?
Developed originally by James Hinks of Birmingham, this breed was appearing at dog shows as early as 1862. But it wasn’t until the 1930s when it was recognised as being a separate breed from the Bull Terrier, and had a name change to distinguish the two, adding the county name where it had become so popular.
