Say Hello to Ernie
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 5 years old
My favourite thing about Ernie is...
How much he doesn’t understand personal space. He cuddles into you in the tiniest of spaces and he is a snuggle monster. I also love how gentle he is with my 1 year old Daughter. They are best buds.
The biggest challenge with Ernie is...
He’s a food snob. He takes notions where he goes off his food and you end up trying news ones until you find something to suit him. But we love him so he’s worth it.
The most surprising thing about owning a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is...
How much they love human contact, like stroking and cuddles and just even sitting on your foot to make sure you don’t move. Haha. He really is so affectionate compared to dogs I have had in the past.
What I wish I’d known about Staffordshire Bull Terriers is...
How gentle they really are and how goofy they can be. I would’ve got one sooner. Also how smart he is and how quickly he picks up habits like toilet training when we first got him. 5 years of having Ernie and still no accidents.
Did you know?
One of the most popular events in the main ring at Crufts over the past few years has been the East Anglia Staffordshire Bull Terrier Display Team, who show their dogs doing everything from competitive agility, to tricks, to working with children.
