Presenting Cookie
Yorkshire Terrier, 14 years old
She came from Dogs Trust .
My favourite thing about Cookie is...
she's very intelligent with an amazing memory.
The biggest challenge with Cookie is...
The challenge was to get her to sleep indoors; she would go out last thing at night and not come back in, but would dig a hollow in the garden to sleep in. Another challenge was to get her when out on her lead, not to try and attack other dogs - we were given to understand that she would be tied up and used as bait to train fighting dogs (this was not on mainland Britain); this behaviour is now gone.
The most surprising thing about owning a Yorkshire Terrier is...
Cookie I think got that name because she is a smart cookie!
What I wish I’d known about Yorkshire Terriers is...
Although Cookie is now a very sociable Yorkie with people and their pets and so no longer barks when in their company, at home she is very vocal because she is very good at telling the time, i.e meal times and when she thinks it's my bedtime.
Did you know?
The Yorkshire Terrier was bred to hunt and kill rats in the coal mines – and so be small enough to fit in a miner’s pocket!
