I couldn’t recommend Purina Pro Plan Optiage enough! My little 14 year old dog absolutely loved Purina’s dry chicken flavoured food. She is normally a very fussy eater and often needs encouragement to eat her dry food (such as being fed by hand), but I put this in her bowl as it is and she gobbled it all up in one. The size of the kibble is smaller than most types of dried food which made it easier for her to eat in her old age and it didn’t seem as dry as some we’ve previously purchased. We’ve been exclusively using the Purina Pro Plan as Sandie’s dried food for over two weeks and have been able to notice some pleasant changes in her behaviour. She has been wanting to play more and for longer periods of time, which for an old girl with arthritis is saying something! After only a few days eating the Purina chicken kibble, Sandie seemed to interact with us more and was livelier in personality as well as physicality. The packaging has an easy to use seal meaning that after each use the food can be re-sealed keeping it fresh. So if you couldn’t already tell, I’d strongly recommend this product for your older dog and I will be continuing to purchase this for Sandie moving forward.
William, my miniature dachshund is a very fussy sausage when it comes to kibble. If it doesn’t smell right or it isn’t the right size he will not entertain it at all. When my parcel arrived he was dancing round the box with excitement before I had even opened it so I took this as a good sign that he liked the smell! I was pleased to see that the kibble size was appropriate for a small dog as I have had experience with other brands that the pieces are too big for a small one dog to chomp. He really enjoyed it and we had a clean bowl every day. I would definitely consider this brand again. We have a lot left as the bag is twice the size of my little sausage dog which shows good value for money. It’s a paws up from us
Unfortunately my miniature dachshund didn’t enjoy these biscuits. He did eat them but he took a long time and kept looking at me as if to say where’s my usual food. The biscuits were slightly smaller than what he is used to so I’m not sure if that put him off although eating slower isn’t a bad thing for him as he usually wolfs it down. I passed the biscuits onto my mum to give to her dog who is a chihuahua and they were much more to his liking so they didn’t go to waste that’s for sure. He’s really enjoyed them so although I couldn’t recommend them for my dog that’s not to say they were bad biscuits
My beloved senior JRT has become a little fussy with his food in the last 12 months so I was keen to see how he took to this and I'm so happy to report he is made up with it! The small kibble size is really good for him and he eats up every meal :)
The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because I expected higher chicken content considering it's advertised as rich in chicken.
