Meet Ralphie

Labrador Retriever, 5 Months old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍼 Lives with children

My favourite thing about Ralphie is...

His cheeky, loving and fun disposition. He is very bright and responsive. He's driven by food currently so easy to train. He’s sits for his food. Very quickly got used to sitting in his crate at meal times waiting. His recall is excellent for a young dog.

The biggest challenge with Ralphie is...

The puppy mouthing. I have had Labradors before and don’t remember them being quite as persistent as he is. I would also like him to give me a full nights sleep. We haven’t quite got there yet. Secretly I love the mummy/ puppy early morning cuddles so I guess he picks up on this. He’s a terrible mummy’s boy.

The most surprising thing about owning a Labrador Retriever is...

Their love of water is well renowned and they are made for it with water repellent coats and webbed toes, but it isn’t naturally something they like as pups. Ralphie has done his utmost to avoid puddles and has only just started diving in streams…really looking forward to taking him to the beach.

What I wish I’d known about Labrador Retrievers is...

I was pretty knowledgeable re: labradors so there haven’t really been any surprises. As long as he gets the appropriate exercise and attention he’s a very well behaved boy.

Did you know?

Originally, Labrador Retrievers worked with fishermen and were bred to bring back fish-laden nets.
