Meet Dexter
Pug, 7 years old
My favourite thing about Dexter is...
Dexter has a very loving personality. He loves walks and also loves to sleep the day away. He is a very easy going dog.
The biggest challenge with Dexter is...
The biggest challenge is eye ulcers. Dexter has had 3 in his life and we have spent over £3500 on them.
The most surprising thing about owning a Pug is...
The most surprising thing about a pug it’s how far they can walk. Dexter is happy to walk for one hour/hour and a half a time with no problem.
What I wish I’d known about Pugs is...
What I wish I’d known about pugs before I got Dexter was how severe eye ulcers can be. His last one took over six weeks to heal it takes up all your time and money. It’s something you can’t leave as he will go blind. So you have to keep on top of it. One lot of eyedrops I was putting on every hour day and night. Dexter is on eyedrops for life now. Not a great breed if you’re a busy person.
Did you know?
The Pug dog breed is often described as the Latin phrase “multum in parvo” which means “much in little”, referring to their big personality, despite their small size.
