Get to know Coco
Shih Tzu, 3 years old
My favourite thing about Coco is...
I love how sociable she is. We frequently visit a care home and all the residents love her. Their faces light up when she goes to see them and they like to keep some chicken from their lunch to feed her with. Of course she loves that! She is more than happy to lie on their beds with them or sit on their laps for a cuddle. She is a beautiful little girl inside and out and I love her to bits.
The biggest challenge with Coco is...
It is so difficult to stop Coco from running up and greeting everyone and every doggie she meets. Sometimes it is not appropriate or welcome although most are more than happy to say hello!
The most surprising thing about owning a Shih Tzu is...
I didn't know she was going to be so loving and such a good friend.
What I wish I’d known about Shih Tzus is...
I didn't realise just how much grooming she would need, but I wouldn't change her for the world.
Did you know?
An original Chinese breed standard for the Shih Tzu must be the most romantic ever written. It says (among other things) that they should have the head of a lion, the face of an owl, the eyes of a dragon, the tongue of a peony petal, teeth like grains of rice, ears like palm leaves, the back of a tiger, the tail of a phoenix, and the movement of a goldfish.
